There are quite a few Canadian accents, same as there are several American ones.

Best would be to listen to CBC radio, which has the "average" accent, close that that spoken in Toronto. Except Rex Murphy, who is a Newfoundlander, and sounds it.

Try an east coast or Ottawa Valley accent. Both are very much the same.

Or, a French Canadian accent. Check out former Prime Minister Jean Chretien. He had quite the accent.

Canada is, geographically speaking, the world's 2nd largest nation.

We cover half the North American continent; the US & Mexico share the other half.

And in a country as big as this one, there's no single, universal accent.

Best advice is to Youtube search Canada's regional accents and pick one.

Just be sure your class understands it is a regional accent. That's just good manners.

I'm pretty sure Americans wouldn't want others thinking everyone in the States sounds like a New York cabbie or California stoner.

People in Western Canada sound exactly the same as Americans in California. Really, there is no real Canadian accent.

It will be so cool to have Canadian accents.

It's all in the voice pitch.

It took me a while to be able to tell Americans and Canadians with similar voice 'colour' apart. Now even a Canadian speaking a foreign language or nonsense syllables is easy to pick out.

If you spend too much time working on 'out' and 'eh' you will miss the big sound picture.

As others have suggested, there's some good stuff on youtube. Listening to CBC radio online can be a big help.
