Does this mean the package is like crushed? Or could it mean like the shipping box got a little messed up?
Anyone have any experience with this?

"Item arrived in Canada damaged"

Just what it says. It could be water damaged.Covered in Oil or some other stuff It could have torn open and stuff is missing . It could be crushed it could be.......

HINT IT IS DAMAGED

You will see the damage when it gets to you. This helps to file a claim As the shipper will know it was damaged before it arrived to you.to get replacement shipped.or a refund.

The word "damaged" is very vague. It could mean a lot of different specific things. Regardless, if the package is insured, be sure to make a claim.

Impossible to say exactly what it means but it implies that the package, at least on the outside, is messed up enough to suggest that the contents are also damaged. It could mean anything from "the box is torn", to "the box is completely squashed and soaking wet".
