Question:
Why does Canada have so much immigration?
2015-08-08 12:11:57 UTC
I mean who would want to live in that colossal freezing wasteland. Unless they were refugees. I mean I thought that the UK had a lot of immigration but Canadian Immigration is out of control. Why do Canadians make a business out of immigration as well.

"Why do Canadians make a business out of immigration as well."

Lol.

Unless you can trace heritage back thousands and thousands of years ago to the age of the Paleo-Indians... every Canadian has an Immigrant's heritage. The country is made from Immigration, it's essential history at it's most basic.

Look how great a country Canada is... the reason we do things that serve our best interests is because they are things that serve our best interests. Reasonable, yes?

In Canada being a foreign student opens doorways to Immigration.

In the USA once studies are done foreign students have to leave the country.

Reality, the educated are most likely to create companies, hire staff, pay taxes and payrolls - how much sense does it make kicking smart people with potential out of the country.

"but Canadian Immigration is out of control.."

We are the second land mass that exists in the world - trust me there's room; and yeah we're really suffering from our own population.

"As an affluent, high-tech industrial society in the trillion-dollar class...market-oriented economic system, pattern of production, and affluent living standards...Canada is the US's largest foreign supplier of energy, including oil, gas, uranium, and electric power...given its great natural resources, skilled labor force, and modern capital plant, Canada enjoyed solid economic growth from 1993 through 2007...Canada's major banks, however, emerged from the financial crisis of 2008-09 among the strongest in the world, owing to the financial sector's tradition of conservative lending practices and strong capitalization"

I concur entirely.

Also many people come here as they perceive Canada is safer than where they live now and safer than the USA. And we have way less pollution here and it will be far easier for their kids to get into university. They know how cold it is in advance as they ask others who came here earlier about it. If their other country people can handle it, they figure they can too.

Many come here to Vancouver which has the mildest winters in Canada.

We get it. You don't like the place. Thirty-five million people do live here though, because it is safe, clean, and you can make a living here.

You are not picked up by the secret police, never to be seen again.

You are not violently arrested and die in jail for a traffic violation just because of your skin colour.

There is a very low risk of someone blowing themselves up at the nearby shopping mall.

There are jobs available, there are affordable homes with clean running water, there is food in the stores.

So sorry we won't be seeing you visit any time soon. Please send us a postcard from your utopia when you find it.

Our capitalist system depends on growth, and a 1% growth in population is best for the economy. Canada can either end immigration, or end capitalism. Capitalism, properly regulated has a lot of advantages. Immigration also has a lot of advantages. Immigrants tend to work harder, and immigrants bring a lot of skills and knowledge with them. We only accept the best.

Canada has a low native birth rate (fertility rate 1.63). This results in a decreasing natural population of nearly 100,000 per year. Canada accept about 250,000 immigrants per year. Immigration maintains the population, provides tax revenue for social services for older Canadians, perform skills in-demand in Canada, reunite families, encourage foreign investment, encourage setting/investment in specific areas, to enrich cultural activities, etc.

>I mean who would want to live in that colossal freezing wasteland.

To reunite with family, avoid persecution, obtain a better standard of living, gain economic opportunities, have better healthcare and education, etc. Canada is not a colossal freezing wasteland -- it is a modern democratic nation with a massively high standard of living. It ranks #3-5 in the world in qualify of life and most key social, freedom, and economic indexes.

>Canadian Immigration is out of control

How is it out of control? Canada's immigration system is probably one of the best in the world. It has almost zero illegal immigration. It has one of the longest immigration processes and most people have to compete in specific grounds to get in. Canada's immigrants are amount the most educated, skilled, and wealthy of all western nations. The country selects primarily from countries with good outcomes. It suffers few of the major immigrations issues of the US or Europe in terms of integration, parallel societies, rampant crime, illegals, welfare and prison usage rates, etc.

And the Canadian government is accountable and responsive to immigration issues. It does crack down on fraud, it enforces its laws, it implements policies which Europe and the US won't. It cancels programs which aren't working or which have issues. And there is meaningful public debate about numbers, waiting periods, criteria, source countries with problems, etc. And many of these discussions and debates are lead by immigrant groups.

Is there some series problem with immigration in Canada? It accepts 250,000 immigrants a year... and... there isn't a lot of wide spread issues with it.

All countries rely on some degree of immigation...and I'm sure your ancestors immigrated from somewhere as well.

Most immigrants come from violent countries and they'd rather freeze to death than live in an armed camp like the USofA.

Living in a hostile frozen wasteland builds up character and patience for the 3 days Spring season that we get every 4 years.

People love coming here because our government gives them free lodging, free money and jobs.

Those of us that are born here, lose jobs - they are given to new immigrants. We lose our money - welfare for us is very low, but new immigrants are given tons of money, as well as free healthcare - while if we don't work and have a job that has benefits, we only get basic free health care - no dental care and no prescription coverage - new immigrants get all that as soon as they set foot here.

That is why people love to emigrate to Canada, they get everything for free, and life high off the hog.

Canada's a party the world's invited to come join in celebrating.

And, just like all the best parties, it's one that only the cool kids know about. (Hence your obvious confusion).

They know Canada's not a colossal freezing wasteland because winter is just one of Canada's four seasons.

They know Canada's tropically hot & humid in summer; and that even in the Canadian Arctic the snow melts in spring and there's summer heatwaves.

They know Canada has Provinces bigger in size than multiple European nations.

And Territories bigger than all the nations of Western Europe combined.

That, unlike the rest of the World's countries, only Canada has room to live free, roam free, and truly be free.

Not even the US - where the furthest you can get from the nearest paved road is just 22 miles - can claim that.

The Old World is the past. Canada is the future, a land so incomprehensibly huge there's more than enough room for hundreds more cities, thousands more towns, and literally millions more immigrants.

And even with all those things, Canada would STILL be a vast natural paradise with more to offer than any other country on the planet.

Canada sucks balls. Why would anyone from a 1st world country move to that **** hole. I thought Germany was too cold but Winnipeg was like -40 degrees when I went. Long story short Canada is a pathetic cold **** hole populated by faggots and N!ggas. If all Canadians froze to death no one would even know. That country is so boring I don't know why people wouldn't kill themselves.
