I am a Canadian citizen and I only have my beginners right now. My brother lives in the USA and I was going to practice driving down to see him with my family. I am just wondering if the united states will recongnize my beginners license or is it only eligible to be used within the Canadian border?

Thank you in advance!

All licenses are recognized between countries PROVIDED that you are abiding by the conditions of the license at all times. In order words, if you Canadian license prohibits you from driving without a licensed driver with you then you must make sure you have a licensed driver with you in the US. If you are not allowed to drive at night in Canada, you can't drive at night in the US.

Both above are correct. Your license is VALID out of province. You have the restricted rules of your province as well as the rules for NEW DRIVERS in the place you are.

The strictest combination of rules is what applies when out of your home province.

You will need to check state DMV site for the rules for NEW DRIVERS (Graduated License)in each state . The rules vary as to curfew and who can be in the car with you and WHO must be in the front with you.

Drive Safe and Slow down and move for emergency vehicles stopped at the side of the road.

You follow the rules of the state you are visiting. IF they recognize your G1 with certain conditions, then you stay within those conditions. Check out the state web-site.

There's an old expression, "When in Rome, do as the Romans do."
