Based on my experience teaching, I don't believe so. of course there are variations all over Canada, just like like in the US, but I don't believe younger Canadians have speech patterns that are much different than others in their regions. Canadians have always succeeded in American entertainment and it was often said this was because their speech was neutral and widely accepted by Americans. You will find young Canadians, exposed to lots of American culture, using American expressions and pronunciations more, like "zee" instead of "zed" for the letter "z".

Canadians have Canadian accents just like how New Zealanders have Kiwi accents not Australian accents.

Yes, they are. Older Minnesotans tend to sound more Canadian than younger Canadians do.

Some examples of what younger Canadians say/pronounce:

- Z as 'zee' instead of 'zed'

-Sorry as 'sawry' instead of 'soary'

-Process as 'prawcess' instead of 'proecess'

-Progress as 'prawgress' instead of 'proegress'

-Again as 'a-gen' instead of 'a-gain'

There is a distinct Canadian voice pitch. Once you learn to hear it you will always be able to spot the raised-in-Canada Canadian even if they are speaking another language.

Using minor pronunciation variants like 'zed' versus 'zee' is less reliable.

No. God no. Canadians have "Canadian" accents. We would kill the kid with the American accent.

Yeah they do.

There are many Canadian actors and singers in America and you wouldn't even know they were Canadian. i.e Rachel McAdams, Ryan Gosling, Ryan Reynolds,Justin Bieber. etc
