I'm actually curious which is a better place to live, Australia or Canada? How is the economy in both countries? What about socialism? Crime rate?

Honestly, it depends what kind of country you want.

Living in Canada is much less than Australia, rent for example being considerably less.

They are almost identical in unemployment rate (5.8% and 5.9%), both much lower than most other countries around the world. Both countries also have high demands in the trade industry, again really no difference there. Minimum wage is important to note as well.

Taxes may be an area of concern for you. Depending on province, Canada has slightly different tax systems, for example 13% tax in Ontario, or 5% in Alberta on most items you buy. There are also federal or general taxes, which when you fluctuate the currency, it's honestly not too big of a difference.

The kind of whether you'd experience for both Australia and Canada is not exactly what the stereotypes suggest. It's not always baking heat for Australia, and it's not always freezing cold for Canada. The difference is Canada generally experiences more seasonal changes than Australia, and is only slightly colder than northern American states, if anything. This one is just really down to preference, if you like all seasons or not.

Canada has somewhat stricter alcohol laws, where Australia is more relaxed. The age to drink in Canada ranges from 18 to 19, where as generally in Australia it's just 18.

Canadian immigration is much easier to deal with, as long as you don't have a criminal record. For most countries, you need a Visa to be able to go to Australia, making it more difficult to get in.

Australia has 18% higher crime levels than Canada, not too drastic, as they are only seven ranks away from each other. Both are relatively low for crime, and extreamly low for murder rates. Both countries are better in one area than another, for example Australia has a higher rape rate, but Canada has a higher robbery rate.

Overall, it just depends what you want from the country. Both have beautiful sights, but I think I would personally go with Canada.

Tough call, but, I would say on balance, Canada is better. I should say that I live in Canada though.

From what many women have told me, women are not as equal in Australia. It is stills a "man's" place, whereas Canada has much more equality. Canada is also somewhat better off economically. Being right next to the USA, imported things from there are much cheaper than in Aus, simply because of the travel costs.

Australia is, on average, warmer than Canada's average. However, it has no mountains, at least not compared to Canada. Canada has a much more varied topography. Both countries are cosmopolitan, but, Canada accepts more immigrants from all over the world than Australia does.

Australia has a more unique culture. Canada being beside the USA, and with all sorts of people in it from all over the world has yet to develop a strongly identifiable "Canadian" culture. It exists, but, at least part of it consists of not being American, rather than being Canadian.

Politically, both countries have the same system. Both do not consider "socialism" a bad word. Both have the same person as head of state.

Both have large cities, but, plenty of empty space.

Although I am very glad my parents brought me to Canada, if I had to live somewhere else, it would certainly be Australia. Two of the best countries in the world to live.

Canada is better to love in rather than Australia if you got a job there then go for it.

I live in Canada and I love it. You know, more people here get killed by knives compared to guns. Canada's a peaceful country, you're respected no matter what your sexual orientation is, gender, race, etc. I love Canada.

They're kinda similar, they both have scarce populations and low crime. The only difference is, Australia is really damn hot with huge deserts, and Canada is really damn cold with huge taverns.

Both are similar economically. The big question is, why would either want you?
