I live in Australia but have some interest in Canada right now. If anyone has knowledge of both regions, could you please point out the similarities and differences. Also, what is the best city for young people in Canada (eating out, clubbing etc)?

Hey, I'm Canadian and I happen to have interest in Australia, just because I think it's an awesome country. Anyways, I'll get straight to the point:

Similarities:

-Both are Commonwealth nations, which fought alongside eachother in WWI, WWII, the Korean War, and are fighting alongside eachother in the present day conflict of the War in Afghanistan.

-Both are democratic countries, which are respectable for their wealth, laws, culture, and contribution to the world.

-Both countries have people who are raised tough due to the severity of climate, and wildlife in the area (not so much of the dangerous wildlife in Canda, but the climate is riDIculous).

-I'm pretty sure if you asked a Canadian what they thought of Australians, they would give you a respectable answer and vice-versa.

Differences:

-Canada is in the northern hemisphere, and it's location on the globe gives it temperatures which vary from -30degrees(celcius) to +30degrees(celcius) in an average year.

-Canada is an exTREMELY multicultural country, infact, Toronto is the most multicultural city in the world.****this is where you would find great places to go clubbing and eating out..also Montreal, and Vancouver...but I recommend Toronto****

-Canada is the second largest landmass in the world, and it's landmass exceeds that of Europe. So clearly, you're going to find a variety of differences from the eastcoast to the westcoast...more so in climate and lifestyle then in anything else.

-Most of Australia is a desert, where as in Canada we've got alot of vegetation, as well as the prairies, mountainous regions, tundra regions, etc....pretty much everything.

>>>I invite you to come to our 'True north strong and free' and party with us all night long if you're interested.

cheers!!!!

culturally, English Canada and Australia have alot in common. Obviously there are regional adaptations... has alot to do with our respective geographic regions and locations, climates, etc. It's not overly different.

We both make the same amount of money, we both speak English (except Quebec), we both live int eh sme houses, eat the same food, work the same jobs, etc.

Obviously there are differences in accents, preferences, histories, small differences in government, and I would argue a difference in mentality (although that also changes from region to region in both countries).

Calgary is the 'youngest' city in the country. Probably has alot to do with young people from all over Canada moving to Alberta to work. Contrary to what Vancouverites and Torontonians will say, Calgary does have 'culture', and actually spends more on the arts than both cities do (I read Maclean's Magazine). Vancouver is cool also.

Similarities - both are Commonwealth nations.

Differences

- Canada northern hemisphere, Australia southern hemisphere.

- Canadians speak english, Australians speak english (yes I know I put this under differences)

- Australia - lots of poisonous snakes. Canada very few poisonous snakes

- Canada the water spins clockwise when you flush the toilet. Australia, it spins counterclockwise.

That's all I know.

Too old to know much about clubbing for young people.
